Female Eurasian Lynx and Common Hepatica

This new Eurasian Lynx painting has female lynx walking down hill slope. Beautiful Common Hepatica grows often in this kind of places. The cat is nearly finished, but there is still some work left in foreground.

Painting is 10″ x 20″.

Photorealistic aproach to lynx

This lynx painting has been done with srcatching clayboard tecnique.

Firs paint layer has been airbrushed on Ampersand claybord smooth.

Then this paint layer is scratched with sharp tools. White caolin shows in each scratch.

Second color layer

Accident happened and drop of paint flev on the painting. Unfortunately Holbein aeroflash paint takes previous paint layers of.

There is several paint and srcathing layers in this painting. Some of the background details have been made with coloured pencils.

This painting was never finished since I could not fix it after scratching it too deep.

I realiced that other paw was badly wrong.

I used sanded paper to get old paint of.

Unfortunately markings were too deep and they did show trough the paint.

I have read artists site wetcanvas for several years. There I saw very realistic animal paintings with fur that seems soft and realistic. This is my first try for this scratchbord method.
