Zoo needed classrooms and farm Animal Park. I combined these to a plan of early 1900 school and farm. That time teachers had to keep farm animals. This farm will host events, school trips and visitors can join farm activities and taking care of animals.

All started from this farm sketch I made two years ago. Now farm animal park and school are ready and it is fun to compare sketch and final result. School and shed chanced their location and stable and cow house changed their position. Farm become larger and finer that was originally planned. Now there is functioning smiths forge and nearly all houses are larger.
Some smaller buildings are not ready yet and farm setting looks like this now.

Here are images from the Farm.

Karelian Iron age ladies had heavy jewelry decorating their gowns. Pair of tortoise brooches closed a peplos dress. Hanging from brooches were chain hangers and tubular bronze beads with charms. Iron chain maille strip connects brooches. In the ends of longer iron chains are ear spoon and knife.
Bronze parts have been sand casted and slightly polished with clay paste. Sand casting is not suitable method for making complicate items like these, but several attemps produced few succesfull castings. Knife blade is steel and decorative metal parts are made of sterling silver. Handle is reindeer antler.
Blue cape is hand woven by frienf of mine. I dyed it blue with indigo and finished edges with tablet woven trims.

I made these shocks during 116 hour train trip to Ural Mountains in Russia. This was my first attempt to make anything by “nalbinding” technique. Yarn is wool dyed with indigo and lupine leaves.
Needle is made of reindeer antler.

Jack Sparrow got a new hand sewn shirt for this first of May celebrations. In the image shirt looks a bit too clean. In reality it is painted very dirty and weathered with coarse sand paper. New hat was also in use for the first time.

Finnish Iron Age costume is getting more and more complete. I made this large brooch for cloack. Original and this replica are silver plated bronze.
Acanthus pattern is engraved. Original late Iron age engraving style is difficoult to replicate. That time engraving was probably done by hammering graver. This makes engraving line slightly serrated. Modern engravers make smoother lines.
